Dear Coaches, Student-Athletes and Parents,

As the new season is about to begin, I want to share a few words of encouragement on staying focus.

Many of us (young and old) try to avoid the prospect of failure. In fact, we’re so focused on not failing that we don’t aim for success, settling instead for a life of mediocrity. Too many people in our success-driven society view failure as a non-option—it’s deemed a deficiency. In education and sports, YOU must stay focus and have a balance.

The same holds true for personal quests, whether in overcoming some specific challenge or reaching your full potential in all aspects of life. To achieve your personal best, to reach unparalleled heights, to make the impossible possible, you can’t fear failure, you must think big, and you must push yourself. Success is a journey, not a destination.

Coaches encourage your player on and off the playing field of sports. Make it your business to guide your student-athlete to a level of excellence.

Student-athletes embrace what your coach is teaching you. Keep all negative thoughts, negative behavior and any outside influence away from you and the program.

Parents encourage your athlete to never ever give up, speak positive around them, never speak ill of their coach, don’t like your ego get in the way of you supporting the whole team.

I wish everyone a successful season. As they say #BallisLife #EducationisLife

Thank you,

Cynthia F. Guillory
